Essential Phone getting July patch and Android P Beta 3 updates

Just a day ago, Google has announced the July 2018 security patch files (OTA & Factory Images) for its Pixel devices. At the same day Essential Phone has also started to push this July security patch for PH-1 model. They’ve officially confirmed this software roll out on their twitter page. This software update will be available for those who are running on android 8.1 oreo os (not participated to Android P Beta program).


This July security patch brings new build number for this device OPM1.180104.267. This update weighs in small size 71.1 MB and it will be available for download via OTA. Apart from the July 2018 security patch, it will also improve the android auto stability.

On the other hand, the company has also released next build of Android P Beta (i.e. Beta 3) for Essential Phone users (also known as DP4). Existing beta members can download this firmware update via OTA. This beta update includes July security patch, android auto related improvements and latest Google P Code integration. The build version of Android P beta will be in PPR1.180160.030.

To download and install the OTA files the users must connect their device to Wifi or cellular data. Once completed the installation, the users can verify it by referring the Settings menu. The automatic OTA for non-beta users may take some time to reach all devices, optionally you can also manually check for update from Settings menu.
