Google Pixel and Nexus series getting October security patch

As scheduled, Google is now pushing October month android security patch for Pixel and Nexus range of devices. Google has officially confirmed this update by releasing the factory and OTA images on its developer site. They have also posted the detailed security bulletin list at this page. Mostly the security update will include the fix for critical vulnerabilities and other security breaches.


Let’s see which devices are getting this latest security build

Pixel & Pixel XL –These handsets will receive the update in two versions OPR1.170623.027 and OPR3.170623.008. First one is for Fi/Canada models and second one is for global variants.

Pixel C – The Pixel C device will also get the October patch as OPR1.170623.027

Nexus 6P & Nexus 5X – The latest build number for Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are OPR5.170623.007 and OPR4.170623.009

Nexus 6 – The update will be available in two versions N6F27M (for global) and NGI77B (for verizon)

Nexus 9 LTE & WiFi – The build number for LTE and WiFi models will arrive as N4F27P and N9F27M.

Google has also released the OTA and factory images of this security. If you can’t wait for the automatic OTA then download the OTA file and follow the installation steps from Google developer site. You can also update via factory image but for that you need to flash your device with adb tool.
