Moto G5s Plus getting January 2018 security patch in India

Finally, Motorola has started to roll out January 2018 security patch update for Moto G5S Plus Indian units. This software update is already live in India and also installed more number of users. Along with January 1 2018 security patch, it will also fix the WiFi WPA2 KRACK vulnerability. User who installed this firmware update has shared the screenshot on forums.


According to that, the january update for Moto G5s Plus arrives with new build number NPSS26.116-61-2. As usual the manufacturer will push this software update via OTA in phases. This OTA file weighs in small 51.8MB. You can download this update either using WiFi network or mobile data. Note this latest OTA update will not make change in android version and it will remain at Nougat 7.1.1.

If you have the Moto G5s Plus handset with ‘retin’ software channel, then you’re eligible to receive this software update. You can also check for manual updates from Settings > About phone > System updates. However the U.S units of Moto G5s Plus are still lack at October month patch and till now they didn’t release any updates.


On the other hand Moto G5s Plus owners are waiting for a long time to upgrade their device to Android Oreo update. The late release of security patch update intimates there will be a delay in Oreo roll out. The report suggests Motorola will officially begin to push the Oreo update for G5s Plus users on March or April months.
