By accident Motorola has revealed the release notes of January 2018 security patch for Moto X4 handset. The company has just updated the release notes only and the roll out didn’t yet started. But the support page intimates the release date of latest security patch is not so far. Google reports, January 2018 patch will carry the fix for 40 critical and high vulnerability issues that are addressed in android os.
Further Motorola will also attach the patch for security issues that are spotted in their OEM. Coming to release notes, they’ve just posted that the security patch of Moto X4 will be updated to January 1 2018. Apart from patch, they didn’t include any new features or changes on this device. We can assume the firmware update may tweak the system stability and performance.
We can’t say whether the Motorola will push this January month security update for Android One or Global variants. If you own Moto X4 then check for the software update manually from Settings > About phone > System updates. Suppose if the firmware is available in your region, download and install it to improve the security of your device. Recently they’ve released the Android 8.0 Oreo update for this device.
