New update for Galaxy S10 adds QR Code camera and June security patch

Samsung has started to roll out new software update for Galaxy S10 range devices, which are powered by Exynos chipsets. This firmware update is now available only for Switzerland units and brings new QR code scanner in camera app, as well as June month android security patch. This same featured update was released in Hong Kong and China, but those Galaxy S10 devices are running on Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.

The new Scan QR codes option has been added in camera app with quick toggle switch. Instead of using third party QR code apps, now the users can directly scan QR codes from camera app. This firmware will also update the build number of Galaxy S10 series to PPR1.180610.011.G975FXXU2ASF3 (the model number will vary by device).

Apart from these changes, this update didn’t carry any other new features to these devices. Usually Samsung will roll out the software updates in stages via OTA, so if you own any of these devices S10 / S10+ then switch on WiFi or mobile data to get automatic update. If it’s not available try to check for manual update from Settings > Software update > Download & Install. Don’t skip the security patch updates, because it will fix the critical security issues and bugs that are located in android and Samsung.
