In January 2015, Xiaomi mobiles launched successor version of Redmi 1S with 64-bit chipset named as Xiaomi Redmi 2 or Hongmi 2. The new Redmi 2 comes with updated MIUI 6.0 version and 4G LTE network support. It was initially launched with 8GB internal memory and 1GB RAM, but the other variant with 16 internal memory and 2GB RAM has been spotted while receiving approval. But there are no details about price and launch date. For now the 8GB variant is available for $150 at online retailers in selected countries. Compared to Redmi 1S, the successor version has latest hardware features, but also has some similar features.
The handset has 4.7-inch HD IPS display, dual sim with 4G LTE network, android 4.4.4 kitkat os, 1.2 GHz quad core processor and qualcomm snapdragon 410 chipset. It will be available in two variants 8GB internal storage with 1GB RAM and 16 GB storage with 2GB RAM. Both variant has expandable microSD card slot. It also has 8 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 2 Megapixel front camera. The device camera also comes with more features like HDR, 1080p video capture, panorama shot etc. Unlike its predecessor, it has increased battery capacity 2200 mAh with quick charge 1.0.
